Clean School Bus Program
This competitive grant program would fund up to half the cost of replacing older school buses with alternative fuel school buses or ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel buses, or retrofitting them to reduce emissions. Eligible grant recipients include state and local governments, contractors that provide school bus service, and nonprofit school transportation associations. Grant recipients must provide at least 15-20 percent of the funds for new buses. Funds may also be used to acquire alternative fuel infrastructure. Authorized at $110 million for FY 06-07.
